2012!

Hi everyone,

2012 is fast approaching. Where does the time go?? This year has been full of so many things. I started Munchkin Nappy Cakes in Feb and have had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic people and amazing businesses. There are so many talented people out there. So many WAHP trying to make a some money making things they love whilst spending time at home with their kids. I love what I do and am lucky enough to be able to do it whilst being able to be a home for the kids.

I thank everyone for their support during this year and I look forward to meeting some more wonderful people and businesses in 2012. I wish all of you a great and safe New Years and best wishes for 2012 :)

Time.....

Time...... what can you say about it?? It's something that we all manage our lives around and focus on everyday. Sometimes more than others. It rules a lot of what we do and makes a lot of our decisions for us. We always look at the calander and clock before we plan things.  When do we get time to stop and smell the roses?

At this time of the year, time seems to be even more precious. Coming up to the silly season, life seems to be going past so quickly. It seems just like yesterday sometimes when we were at this point last year. Where does the time go??

The kids are growing up way too fast. I wish sometimes that I could stop the clock and just enjoy time with them just like they are now. There are times of course that I wish they would stop being so silly and troublesome, every parent feels like that sometimes. But I know that in 5-10 years time I will look back and wish for these times again.

I have been doing lots of thinking and I am going to make a concious effort to try and slow down and enjoy life more. Also, spend more time with family and friends. We only get one chance and we should live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment we get.

I wish all of you joy and happiness. I hope your businesses are going well, yet not taking too much time away from the most precious things in your life. Take the time to stop and smile at things, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the sunshine. Let time stand still if only for a brief moment.....

Hello Again!

Hello Again everyone!

I'm sure you are wondering where I have got to. I'm not the greatest blogger. I spend way too much time on Facebook and have been doing some changes to my website and some new designs since posting on here last.

This year has just flown by way too quickly. The kids are getting so big and becoming more and more independent all the time. Where does the time go?! This week brought some nicer weather finally and the little one and I went to the beach 3 days in a row! What fun we had building sand castles, splashing in the water and finding shells. We actually spotted some star fish and one day saw a stingray. But now of course like the typical Melbourne weather we have it's a lot cooler and raining!

Hope everyone is doing well. To all the businesses out there that I have been mixing with of late, good luck with everything. You do such fantastic work. I must be off, up way too late again. Have a good one!

Saturday 1 October 2011

Good Evening everyone,

It's been awhile since I have posted on here, been busy, like everyone these days. Enjoying school holidays at the minute. So nice to spend quality time with the kids and no clock watching! Shame the weather hasn't been the greatest in the last few days. Had lots of cuddles on our home day today. Love cuddles from the kids :)

We have been baking and cooking together. Interesting....... Ha Ha! They love it, esp. the little one. They fight over who cracks the egg. Luckily when making homemade sausage rolls the other day, I needed two eggs, so they both got to crack one each.

Our eggs are beautiful free range eggs given to us by our chicken who is like one of the family. She is so funny. Just like a dog. She loves to run free around the backyard when we let her out of her coop. The other day when it was raining she was out. I went out and called her and she came running up to me and straight back into her coop. She follows me around when I'm outside.

Well that's it for me for now. Must be off to bed. Very late, again! Got stuck on Facebook, again!
Have a great weekend :)

Fantastic FB pages!

Just a quick late night note to say how amazed everyday I am with how many fantastic, talented, creative people there are out there. Everyday I find at least one, normally more, businesses on Facebook that have such beautiful products. So many of them are WAHP like me, staying home to look after their children and trying to earn a little bit of extra money by doing what they love.

I congratulate all of you for what you are doing and I say keep up the great work.  Good Luck to you all :)

Here are just a few pages to visit that I love and support me:

Sunshine!

The sun is here and it's so lovely :) Bring on summer, how I love it. I really don't like the cold at all. I'm getting sick of wearing so many layers. Gets a bit much after awhile. We might be having lots of sunshine, but inside the house it's total snotville! The kids and hubby have a cold and it's sniffle village here at the minute. Poor things. I must say that even though hubby hates having a cold, he is being very good, not like some men who can't do anything when they have the cold.

Busy day today. Why is it that some weekends nothing happens and then other weekends you have multiple things on at the same time. That was my day today. The oldest had 3 things on, we made 2, but had to shorten the first one and missed the last one altogether. Now tomorrow a quite one spending it all together. Kids totally stuffed. Getting up super early as they do, and having the cold is knocking them about a bit. Hope they get better soon.

Must be off now, very late here. Have been doing some new designs for a mini market I'm attending on Tues. So busy do things for that. Also finishing off a unusal request towel cake. Great to get creative and get the brain working hard.

Enjoy. Thanks for visiting :)

Update

Writing a quick update to let you know how my little one is going. Not long after my last blog post I ended up in the Emergency Department for 5 hours overnight :( He awoke worse than the night before and I took him straight down there. He got in, saw the Dr and was given steroid medication to help him out. It didn't really work that well for a long time. He was so unwell and tired the poor thing. Eventually is started to slowly kick in and they let me take him home with another dose and I was told to keep a close eye on him. His breathing wasn't the greatest for the next 24hrs, but he is now slowly on the mend. No croup anymore, but now has a shocking cold, runny nose, fever, shocking cough. Poor litte thing, he is so strong. We will ride it out, no activities for him for awhile.

Thanks to everyone who helped out us at the hospital and all the well wishes we have received.

Off to bed soon. Just been updating my video with my new logo. You can check it out at

New News

Good evening everyone. Trying to make it an early one tonight, a bit tired as my youngest has croup. Had a bad night last night and spent most of the day in my arms :( Poor little thing. He was a bit stressed out last night when he awoke with a fever and not being able to breathe. Thankfully after some Nurofen and TLC he calmed down and went back to sleep a couple of hours later. Terrible when your kids are sick. Wish you could take it away from them. Hopefully he gets better soon & I don't have to make a trip down to the Dr's.

New News from my business is that I have an update website. I spent lots of hours on it the other night and changed it all around, hopefully for the better. Well I think so anyway, and so do some of my likers on FB. I would love for you all to drop by and check it out. Thanks.

A BIG WIN!

I had a BIG WIN today which I am still in shock over! I was invited to join in a giveaway with http://burlesquepin-upcouture.blogspot.com/ . I completed what we had to do and emailed my entry off not expecting anything. Then tonight when I put the kids to bed I logged onto my email account & there it was a message saying CONGRATS LOVE YOU WERE THE LUCKY WINNER !

I didn't know what to think so I logged onto the blog & sure enough there was my name in big letters saying that I had won. Then I logged onto their FB page and it was on there too! I couldn't believe it! How lucky!

Now comes the hard part of deciding what to choose with my winnings!! Looking forward to it though!
A big thankyou to Burlesque Pin-Up Couture and well done to everyone that entered.

Have a great night everyone :)

SUNSHINE!

It may be short lived, but how I am loving this fantastic weather at the minute! I am loving the sunshine and the warmth it is bringing! Bring on summer. We didn't really have one last year, so hoping this year is so much warmer. I have spent so much time outside, so much better than being stuck indoors.

I took my youngest to the lake the other day to feed the ducks and saw a very strange thing. The ducks weren't very hungry, think they have been overfed by everyone getting out and about in the nice weather. So there was a piece of bread floating on the surface of the water. Then up came a huge fish and started eating the bread! I was shocked! It returned to nibble on the bread about 5 times, which we both watched. Amazing the things you see when you take the time to stop and slow down and enjoy life.

I hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather. Enjoy the wonderful sunshine while it lasts. Have a good one :)

Basketball Star!

My oldest is a Baskeball Star!! He has just played his 3rd game and he owns the court! He is a gun already and is going to go places. He totally loves it and you can normally find him outside playing basketball either by himself or with his dad, even when its freezing! I'm so proud of him and just wanted to shout it out to everyone! I love my kids, they are the shining light of my life XO :)

Life.......

What can I say about Life..... its fast, never stopping, over far too quickly, full of hope, dreams, laughter, happiness, tears, sadness, so many things. You have to enjoy whilst you have it as its over all to quickly.
I watch each day as my kids grow up so fast before my eyes. Where does the time go?? They have become so independent, even the little one. I remember when they were infants and needed me for everything. But then something happens and you realise that no matter how old you are you always need your mum.  Mums are the greatest and even though it may  not seem like it we are so appreciated, needed and loved.

To all you fantastic mums out there you are doing a wonderful job. It may have it's ups and downs, but at the end of the day it's the most rewarding job there is and I wouldn't change it for anything. Enjoy life to the fullest and any time that your kids want to spend with you is a blessing. Have fun and keep smiling :)

I admit it, I'm not the greatest at........

Hi everyone,

I am writing this blog for The Biz Mums Blogging Carnival.  It's part of Motivating Mum's - a fantastic group that supports & gives advice to mums in business. This month's topic is: I admit it, I'm crap at...

When I saw this I chuckled to myself. For me personally I think there are a few things that I can finish this sentence with, even though those around me don't always agree. For me I admit I'm crap at housework! Not that my house is a pigsty, well not in other people's eyes anyway. You always see things that others don't! I find it so hard to juggle the kids, their activities, school, cooking, ironing, washing, my business needs, my minimal time for me and the housework. So something has to give and it's normally the housework. The everyday decluttering, picking up toys, cleaning up after meals and general tidying up gets done. But when it comes to the whole house being dusted, vaccumed and mopped, it gets put on the to do list for another day and another day and another day.  Luckily for me I get to a point where I can't stand it anymore and I do it, normally when the kids are in bed, like everything else, as I'm sure all you WAHM can relate to! Or else, my fantastic hubby chips in and does it. He is the main one that cleans the toilets, which is quiet frequently with 2 boys in the house! Oh I'm so lucky!

As mums we always put so much pressure on ourselves to be the best at everything. Our needs and wants don't come out much, especially when the kids are involved. Even while I'm trying to write this at 11pm at night, my youngest has come out and only wants me, Dad won't do! So I must finish off now, but my final word is this. We may think that we are not the greatest at a lot of things, but we are all fantastic mum's trying our best on a daily basis. As long as your children are happy and healthy and know that they are loved, that is all that matters when you are a mum.

Don't forget to visit the amazing support network that I am linking this to http://www.motivatingmum.com/ and see their Blogging Carnival http://www.motivatingmum.com/wp/?cat=175  Thanks for visiting and reading. Please feel free to leave a comment, I love to have a chat!
Have a great day.

New YouTube video

Hi everyone.

Relaxing!

Ahh enjoying relaxing under the heater with the sun shining through the window. Watching the kids play the Wii, they LOVE it!! Going out into the cold soon to hang out the first load of washing for today. Was -0.8 C this morning when I got up with my early birds. It got to -1.9 C! Soooo cold! Going to be a nice day though :)

School holidays are nearly over. Back to the madness of clock watching and running everywhere. Going to miss my big school boy, he makes me laugh. He is interested in everything and always asking questions. He has been asking alot about things he sees in the paper, esp things to do with the government. I went and did my tax the other day and he asked if I was going to see Julia Gillard! Then when I said no, he asked why not, when it was her that I was paying the money to! Ha Ha! I couldn't stop laughing! :)

Well must be going. I can hear the washing machine has nearly finished. I hope you all have a great day.
Enjoy :)

Wind blown and freezing!!

Oh my goodness, how terrible is the wind at the minute??!!! Last night sitting here on the computer I thought the roof was going to blow off and then the rain came.  Then today I nearly lost my washing whilst trying to hang it out and bring it in! It's great for drying washing, but it does get a bit much sometimes and it's so cold.
How is everyone coping with it?

Nice and warm right now. Home from the gym, new sheets on the bed, Nappy Cake order made and organised and now sitting on the computer. That is where my day ends everyday. In front of the computer. Some nights I actually fall asleep in front of it! But as a small business owner it becomes a good friend of yours.

That's it for tonight. Hope to get some new followers thanks to Motivating Mums Biz Mums Blogging Carnival June 2011. If you are here after following the Link from their page, Welcome and Thanks for visiting.

Have a great one, stay warm and dry and enjoy the small amount of warmth from the sunshine :)

Juggling the thin line between being a mum and a business woman.

The line between being a mum and a business woman can often be so thin that it becomes blurred or invisible.  One minute you are happily being a mum, playing, baking, reading a book, etc and the next you realise you have spent an hour on the computer working on an idea that just popped into your head. When an idea does arise you want to run with it incase it is THE idea that makes you get really noticed and brings in the customers. If you don't work on it then and there you may forget and then it is gone forever. So what happens to your child who you are supposed to be spending time with, do they get stuck in front of the TV or given a new toy with the promise of "I'll be back in a minute"? One thing leads to another and before you know it you look at the clock and I'll be back in a minute has become many many minutes. In a child's mind 1 minute is a very long time, image what half an hour or an hour is like.

Like me you may have a child that can play independently for a long time or with siblings for awhile, before the fights start. So you can "just quickly" hop on the computer and work on something. At times you may take advantage of this, but feel somewhat guilty when you look at the clock and a long period of time has passed.

Some tips I have found helpful when I need to work during the day include:
- Spend as much time together doing things the child loves before saying "Mummy needs to do some work". If they are old enough let them decide how they wish to spend the time whilst you are working.
- If they are able, let them help you. Even if it just something small, to a child being included means so much to them and they love it.
- Set a time limit and stick to it! Use an alarm or ask the child to come and get you when whatever they are doing is finished. Even if you are right in the middle of something, try to finish up when your time is up and leave notes on what you have to next for when you get the chance to return to what you are doing.
- If you keep getting interrupted because the child is bored, find something else for them to do. Explain to them again why you are working and how long you will be. Remind them that if you are given this time to do what you need then you will finish either earlier or on time. Then you will be free to play something they like or something they only do on special occassions.
- Once your time is up return to the child and praise them for being so good whilst you were working. If they weren't good for the whole time, focus on the good times and praise them for those times. Reward them. You may wish to use material rewards, but children love hugs, kisses and positive feedback.

All this may be hard and sound good in theory, but you and your child will get used to it over time. If you stick to things according to what you say, you will get into a routine and your child will get to understand that when you say its only for a short time you mean it and they will be happy to amuse themselves for that period of time without constantly asking you "when can you play with me?".  Children thrive on being included and will trust you if you keep your promises.

Of course one day it may work and not the next. Children are little people and they have a mind of their own, which doesn't always fit into what you want! If it really isn't working you may have to give up and try again later or another day. Keep perservering and it will get better.

We have our good and bad days and I try not to work when I'm home alone with my child, but of course in the real world it doesn't always work like that. I try to listen to what he wants and include him when I can. He loves to help.  Children grow up way too quickly and branch out to kinder and school before you know it, leaving you looking back and wondering where the time went and what you did with them when you had the chance to be together. I enjoy our time together and try and find a happy medium between being a mum and a business woman. Somedays they blur into one or one outweighs the other, but I just keep plogging along. I love being a mum and I love my kids, but being a business woman helps keep my mind active and allows me to be an adult and contribute to the household.

I hope you have gotten something out of reading my blog. Maybe you have related to it in someway. Take care of yourself and enjoy life. I would love to hear from all of you. Have a great day!

Cold Weather :(

How is the weather in Melbourne at the minute...? It is soooo cold.  Winter is surely here :(
Took my little one to Scienceworks the other day. Great place where kids can touch everything!

Friday 3 June 2011

Late night

Up late again. My body is so used to it now I think. By the time you do all your chores after putting the kids to bed and then hop on the computer it gets quite late. Then you get stuck on the computer doing this and that and before you know it some hours have passed by.  Where does the time go??

Should be off to bed now. Only 5 Likers to go until I reach 200! I am celebrating by giving a Cupcake in your choice of colour away free with every Nappy Cake purchased. How exciting!

Good night all.

Relaxing day

Nice relaxing day at home with my 3 handsome men :) Was out early this morning for awhile, but spent the rest of it catching up on quality family time. There is nothing better. Then this evening created two new Nappy Cakes to donate. I loved designing and making new cakes. Took me away from what I really needed to do, 3 hours + of ironing, what a shame.... Ha Ha!

Friday 27 May 2011

Good Evening

After a long day kids in bed (after getting up at 5.30am!)  I'm working on my blog & webpage. Have a new Nappy Cake to make for an amazing Charity Auction - Charlie Bear's Gift - RBWH Foundation. Please check them out on Facebook and show your support.

Just watching the AFL game, Jim Stynes is an inspiration. He keeps on fighting and smiling the whole time. I hope everything goes well for him.

Goodnight all :)

Good Morning!

Good Morning!

Sitting drawing with the kids. They love being creative and have such a unique style. They grow up so fast. Seems like just yesterday they were just little babies in nappies. Where does the time go?...

Off to school soon and so the chaos of the day begins.  Have a great day and hopefully the sun pops out a bit today :)

Tuesday 24 May 2011

Early start!

Off to another early start this morning. Kids up at their usual 6am, plus one visitor overnight. Washing done and hung out, school drop off done, now off to buy a gift for a friends child. A bit too old for a Nappy Cake.  What is everyone else up to?

Munchkin Nappy Cakes

Hello and welcome to my new blog! This page is for all of us. Please feel free to not only discuss my Nappy Cakes, but also anything to do with newborns, babies, toddlers, children, motherhood and parenting.
Mother's need to stick together and what better way to get through the day than to discuss issues or vent with other mother's who are going through the same thing. Sometimes it can be hard, but we can all support each other and make it that little bit easier. You are not alone, we are all going through the samethings. Children are the greatest and they enrich our lives, but some days.......

Enjoy reading, catching up with others, providing or receiving advice and posting as you wish. I look forward to hearing from you all.  Have a great day.
